BRANDING – creating your image

A company’s brand is the perceived corporate image and everything the company does, everything it owns and everything it produces should reflect the values and aims of the business as a whole. To create a “brand” for a company is to create their image, and to promote that image with campaigns and visuals. The goal for me as a designer is to make the image of the company unique and recognizable as well as visually pleasant and professional.

The type of work that I do in the field of branding is for example logo design, stationary (letterheads, business cards, envelopes, etc.), publication design (flyers, brochures, books, magazines, etc.), packaging design, apparel, signs, webpage redesign, e-mail templates, company powerpoints and advertising (both digital and print).

The logo is the corporate identity and brand all wrapped up into one identifiable mark. A logo should be pleasant to look at and communicate the feel of the brand. Logos derive their meaning from the quality of the thing it symbolizes, not the other way around – logos are there to identify, not to explain.

All the design guidelines are usually summarized in a brand manual that explains how the identity is applied, using approved color palettes, fonts, layouts, measurements and so forth. These guidelines ensure that the identity of the company is kept coherent, which allows the brand as a whole to be recognizable.

DIGITAL ADVERTISING - catch the eye

Banner advertising is important as your potential customers go about their daily browsing. But there are so many other banners out there too, which makes it crucial to catch the eye of the costumer with a well worked through and creative banner. I make flash, gif or jpg banners. I can also provide images and custom made icons, buttons and illustrations for facebook pages, campaign pages and other digital media.

WEB - good information and the first impression

The importance of a good web page cannot be overlooked in this digital world and many times the web page of a company is the first impression we get of them. It does not have to be very advanced to bee good but it has to be attractive to your costumers. You want them to stay and easily find the right information. I can help you give your page a facelift, where I redo the look and feel of your site, fix your images/icons/buttons and make sure your typography is good, or I can make structural changes or a full redesign.

PACKAGING DESIGN - the last and best seller

“A retail package is the last and best chance to make a sale.” according to the book The Brand Gap. A very large part of purchases are made based on emotions, especially when a client is unsure and must choose between several brands of products. The package design is vital also when it comes to brand image because it is the physical representation of it. It draws attention to the product and gives it a position in a product category and can transmit a sense of worth. I have focused on printed packages and labels but I carry a wider perspective through my degree in industrial design engineering and can work with various materials.
